NEW Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

23Feb10

Post by Anny Deirmenjian

Although suitable for all skin types (and ages), for someone with extremely sensitive skin, I found the Midnight Recovery Concentrate by Kiehl’s to be a miracle product. Considering my skin is prone to break outs, which can be caused by anything from change of season, water temperature to switching moisturizers, I was apprehensive but decided to give it a try anyway.

After cleansing, I applied 2 drops (2-3 drops is the recommended dosage) of the concentrate to my face and noticed it immediately absorbed effortlessly into skin (make sure to evenly distribute the formula, and pat into skin, do not rub). The next morning, my skin felt tighter, softer, and more hydrated; my pores appeared smaller and the best part – no breakouts! Not only is the scent of lavender and geranium wonderful and relaxing, this nourishing, paraben-free elixir consists of a complete blend of botanical oils (lipids) and natural essential oils (those important Omegas).  They help improve the skin – rejuvenating and hydrating while you more

And the Winners of the CLINIQUE Fresh Faces Contest Goes to…

31Jan10

Clinique teamed up with Teen Vogue in search of three fresh faces that embodied the essence of Clinique and Teen Vogue.  From September 22nd – November 6th Clinique traveled from NYC to LA, stopping in 10 cities, aboard the Clinique “Mobile Beauty Studio” vehicle.  Candidates who could not make it to the studio were encouraged to apply online.

To enter, applicants submitted a headshot and filled out an entry form that asked them to described their fresh face look in three words. After an extensive national search, a panel of Clinique experts selected 25 finalists.  Their headshots were then uploaded online for the public to vote for their three favorites.

Meet Monica, Misha, and Earth, the three winners (out of 7,000 entries) for Clinique and Teen Vogue’s Fresh Faces Tour.

These three lucky young women received a once-in-a-lifetime VIP opportunity in NYC including a glam head-to-toe makeover styled by Teen Vogue experts, a professional photo shoot that will be featured in Teen Vogue magazine, and a behind-the-scenes tour with Teen Vogue.  As if that’s not exciting enough, the winners also visited Clinique’s headquarters, and met more

The New Ladi in My Life: Ladi Avokanto Review

26Jan10

I should start by saying that I’m on an oil kick, and my latest find is SPONGE’s Ladi Avokanto (Avocado Oil).  I know many of you are afraid of oils and are concerned it will you clog pores or cause you to break out.  I get it, I’ve been there, but that’s simply not the case.  It’s true, not all oils are created equally.  There are a lot of different oils out on the market; each with different consistencies and some are better then others.  But at the end of the day there’s a reason why people with oily skin tend to get less wrinkles then those with dryer skin.  And that’s where Ladi Avokanto comes in.

Rich in olive oil, avocados, vitamin E and vitamin D, Ladi Avokanto is an more

Super Amazing Gift Set Deals From Lush!

13Jan10

I walked by the Lush location in Lahaina on my last day in Maui, and was blown away by the amazing sale they’re having on their holiday gifts! Buy one, get one free on all holiday wrapped sets, or buy any holiday product, get two free!  The sets were already a great value, but considering how great this promo is, now is the time to stock up if you’re a Lush fan.  I should mention that aside from already being gift wrapped (most of which are in non-holiday paper so they are perfect for all occasions) they come with a surprise 15% off coupon inside.  I discovered that lovely surprise when  I gave my little sister the You Shall Go to the Ball Gift Set for Christmas.  I checked with the sales rep., and the sale is going on at all locations (and online) until they run out.  Get them while you can!

Interview with Karen Cosgrove, Spa Director of the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai

13Jan10

While vacationing in the Big Island of Hawaii, I spent 5 heavenly days at the Four Seasons Resort in Hualalai, soaking up the sun and enjoying the sensation of having sand underneath my feet. I’m generally a big explorer on my vacations but the Four Seasons offered so many great activities and services that I didn’t leave the property during my stay.  The adventures would have to be saved for Maui; this portion of my trip was all about having no agenda and unwinding from all the running around I do in NY.

Well I picked the perfect place.  The Four Seasons Resort offers guests a sports club which includes a strength gym, cardio gym, rock climbing wall, half basketball court, sand volleyball court, outdoor lap pool, work out classes (including fitness, yoga, and pilates), tennis courts, golf course, hikes, as well as a full service salon and spa.

Considering the array of options (especially on the spa menu), the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is the ultimate destination for wellness and relaxation.

Having taken full advantage of the amenities the property had to offer, I was very excited for the opportunity to interview the woman largely responsible for making this establishment so great, Hualalai Director of Sports and Spa, Karen Cosgrove.

Pretty Connected (PC): How long have you been in the spa industry?

Karen Cosgrove (KC): I have been in the spa industry for 11 years. I spent 3 years in the Middle East in Qatar and Egypt, 4 years in the Caribbean before ultimately coming back to the US, where I worked in California and Arizona before moving to more

Products Come and Go, But This One Always Remains

13Jan10

I’m often amazed at the sheer number of beauty products I have amassed over the years.  Everything from multi-purpose face masques to multi-fragranced foot lotion is stored away (no easy feat in my small Manhattan apartment) for the day I decide to truly pamper myself.  But despite my arsenal of expensive and fancy products one thing I cannot live without is the inexpensive, no-frills, classic miracle worker that is Aquaphor Healing Ointment.  This award-winning, clinically proven formula works like a charm on my dry, cracked, winter-in-New-York lips and rough, dehydrated cuticles and elbows.  This stuff is seriously amazing.  Not only is it extremely effective but it feels luxurious, works quickly, lasts for hours and gives your lips a nice glossy sheen without any funny taste or stickiness.   I buy the small on-the-go tubes and stow one in every handbag

Price: $5.79 for 2-.35oz tubes (also available in additional sizes).  Visit CVS.com for more information.

Last Call for Mrs. Meyer’s Iowa Pine Holiday Line

1Jan10

Mrs. Meyer’s, the Earth-friendly, cruelty free brand specializing in household products, is one of my favorites.  If you love the smell of pine trees, then get the Iowa Pine line while you can (and it’s on sale)! Now’s about the time when all the Christmas tree’s make their way to the curb and many of us have to wait until next year to smell that freshly cut tree aroma.  So I’m stocking up on the Holiday Hand Care Set so I can have the fresh scent of pine (mixed with a touch of cedar and clove) for months to come.

The Iowa Pine Holiday Hand Care Set includes the Hand Soap Liquid, 8oz, & Hand Lotion, 8oz.  Was $9.99, now $5.99! [Revision: as of 1/16 this set is now $3.99! But they have sold out of the Clean-Up Kit]

For more information on the Iowa Pine collection visit mrs.meyers.com

Over the holiday musk? May I suggest the lavender? That’s my favorite Mrs. Meyer’s line!

My Packing List for Hawaii

29Dec09

Part of my New Years resolutions is to be more adventurous, so on Christmas day I booked a trip to Hawaii for New Years.  I traded in NYC snow for Kona (and eventually Maui) sunshine!

My trips two weeks, so I packed the essentials for my paradise vacation:

More in depth review to come, but for now I need to catch a flight!
