Here’s to you Vidal Sassoon! Thank you for letting me celebrate this 45 year milestone with your team, and congratulations on the new Sassoon location!
Last week, I had the pleasure of celebrating the launch of Leila Sham’s Spring 2010 Collection at her beautiful, drool-worthy apartment in Williamsburg. If I wasn’t so in love with the collection and consumed by my excitement of having the opportunity to own Style No. 20 Bicolor Sequin Dress (Color: Purple to Gold), I would say she missed her calling as an interior designer. Except having known Leila and how creative she is, it’s safe to say she has a lot of callings.
This dress is so amazing! You can actually brush the sequence down to reveal the purple side or up to see gold, creating whatever purple/gold combination desired!
Meet Nicole Williams and celebrate the launch of her latest book, Girl on Top. Her book tour will be coming to The Limited near you, bringing runway shows, private sales, and networking parties along the way. So enjoy a cocktails and mingle with fellow GOT’s. Don’t miss it!
Susan Sarandon may have played a Queen in Exit the King, but off stage she remains on her thrown as the Queen of SPiN. Susan, alongside owners Bill Mack, Franck Raharinosy, Jonathan Bricklin, and Andrew Gordon welcomed guests to their 13,000 square feet table tennis social club this past Thursday to their grand opening hosted by Vanity Fair and Hermes.
The celebration and space was nothing short of pure magic. In fact it was out of control AMAZING.With a 30 ft bar and lounge that looks into the 23rd street subway station and 17 ping pong tables on Olympic caliber flooring, it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen (and after 8yrs in NY, that’s rare).
The room was filled with members, celebrities, heartthrobs, models, nerds, hipsters, fashionistas, Olympians, legends, reporters, artists, bankers, – oh and Spider-Man. No matter your status, age, or playing ability, Spin offered an equal playing field and allowed us to be kids again. They gave us game time on their courts and served gourmet popcorn and grilled cheese compliments of their restaurant, Ducks.

Guests played dress up in Hermes scarves while waiting for their turn to be photographed. Not only did the full size pictures print out instantly, but it also allowed you to enter your email address to have the images sent to your account.
I clearly had a lot of fun with this feature.
Later on the party continued in their private Fred Perry room.
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Week Suite at the Loft at the Byrant Park Hotel was a welcome respite for attendees taking a break from the tents and in need of some papering. Offering beverages and snacks, as well as manicures in their new fall shades, guests had a place to just hang out and relax in between shows.
Estée Lauder announced today that it will close all Prescriptives counters globally by January 31, 2010. While supplies last, they will continue to sell products through their website. So stock up NOW or risk forever holding your peace.
Soon to be a rarity
Prescriptives was once ranked among the top five brands in American department stores; but today is not that day, and I will admit, I’m part of the problem! Years ago (ahem, many), I used to be one of their loyal foundation and moisturizer customers, but then one day, I just stopped. I’m not sure why, I suppose I started trying different brands and falling in love with new products. Brand loyalty is so hard to find these days.
He had me at Dovima with Elephants. Richard Avedon’s body of work is truly stunning — he reinvented fashion photography delving into the realm of art. The exhibit travels back in time expanding the evolution of fashion through his lens. The photographs are extraordinary and well displayed covering over five decades of his work on two floors of the ICP. Carve out a decent amount of time to view this exhibit. A worthy must see!
On Saturday, September 12th, Gina Brooke, Artistic Director of Shu Uemura, was kind enough to extend an invitation to go backstage and preview the look for Vivienne Tam’s Spring 2010 runway collection. Considering this was the last year fashion week would be held at Bryant Park (sniff, sniff), I was anxious to get to the tents.
The inspiration for the show was nature. Gina Brooks did an exceptional job embodying the theme and creating a clean, natural face with soft pink cheeks and dramatic lashes that appeared like butterfly wings (using the Shu Uemura Farfallina False Eyelashes on both the top and bottom lash line).
“Butterflies were seen everywhere in Vivienne’s collection which was inspired by freedom, life and the 1960’s,” said Brooke. “It was only natural to have these beautiful, wing-like lashes flank the models’ eyes to resemble one of earth’s most gorgeous creatures.”
Hair by Kevin Mancuso for Kevin Mancuso Salons. Following suit, Kevin completed the look with middle parts, producing loose waves on these models flowing locks, creating a modern twist on a classic hippie do.
After my interview, I had a little time to kill until the show started. Fortunately, I ran into a friend who invited me to the W Hotels VIP Backstage Lounge, sponsored by Veuve Clicquot. I had me a drink (or two) while mingling with some of fashion’s finest.
Showtime! I filed into the crowd excited for Vivienne Tam’s collection and especially thrilled to see the premiere of her latest collaboration with HP for their digital clutch. A beauty bloggers dream! So compact and stylish, I want it! But like Vivienne Tam’s collection, this stunning piece of machinery is not expected to launch until Spring 2010.
A stunning show it was, but see for yourself. Click HERE for complete image coverage of Vivienne Tam’s Spring 2010 Collection.

On September 10th, Anna Wintour’s plan to save the fashion industry came to life when NYC gathered for Fashion’s Night Out. Every retailer from all five boroughs was encouraged to join in the celebration. Anna Wintour affirmed her commitment to the boroughs involvement by pledging to kick off the evening at Macy’s in Queens, alongside Michael Kors. With over 700 retailers participating in the festivities, I had a whole lot of invitations with no idea what to expect or how to pace the night.
